Whenever I go shopping I like to snap pics of pumps, especially if they are trendy or super cute. You all know my love for Jessica Simpson shoes, and coming across her pumps (especially new ones), are my favorite!
What I love about Jessica Simpson shoes is that they are all so creative and comfortable! To be honest the last time I've owned a pair of Jessica Simpson pumps was quite a few years ago...but a girl can appreciate them from afar, right? I think it's about time I own a pair of JS pumps and go out and have some fun with them on.
This is a picture I took in Nordstrom I believe when I saw this shoe design. It definitely looks better in person as opposed to on the website. I love the fun colors on the blue, yellow, and green shoe. I think JS definitely did a great job at infusing creativity into these pumps, don't you think?
This pump is my personal favorite. The blue suede and the peachy orange bottom part of the pump looks amazing. So I'm definitely ready to find a fun pair of pumps from Jessica Simpson. Are you?

Sweet Summer Sandals
You all know about my obsession with flip flops and sandals, hence why I thought I would do a post on some seriously trendy shoes I'd love to wear this coming summer. Wearing shoes that keep my feet covered are nice when it's cold outside, but now that it's warming up I'd prefer to wear sandals that keep my feet cool. No more covering up my feet for me! So here are some sweet summer sandals that I have my eyes on...
These sandals from West Seal are really sweet looking. I especially like that they are pink and that they have lots of pretty ruffles!
Super comfy sandals from Footglove that have a soft footbed and are made out of leather?! Yes, please. I just wish they were available in the US. as opposed to the UK. I will have to look into that.
I also think that sandals below with pretty flowers and other fun elements are fun to wear during the summer time, like these sandals below.
What about this pair from Buckle? I'm loving the lace design and sweet accents. This is the perfect pair of summer sandals for me to wear.
I could show you more sandals that are adorable to wear, but this is a good amount of sandals to glance over and love for now. As the months get warmer and the styles get cuter, I might have to cave in and buy a few new pairs of sandals! I can't wait!

Working on My Fitness with Speedy Athletic Shoes
Through the years I've gone through many athletic shoes. It's hard finding the ideal pair that are comfortable for your feet and makes you feel speedy while working out. During High School I wore Nike shoes. I thought they were really comfortable, but that was when I was under the influence on what my parents thought I should wear. Not that I have anything against Nike (I actually have a pair of shoes in the mail that should be arriving soon...) but later after college I fell in love with different brands of new athletic shoes as well.
Then after college, I started to run half marathons. I ran a total of 3 half marathons until my right leg developed tendonitis. Unfortunately today I've been unable to run marathons after injuring my leg. However, I still try to workout 4-5 days at the gym. It's hard with running though, once you have to stop it's hard to retain it. Hence why I don't run anymore (more than 1-2 miles), except if you count the elliptical or the stair master, ha ha.
But back to shoes...when I started running half marathons my boyfriend suggested that I were Asics. I fell in love with ASICS. Not only were they comfy, but they didn't give me blisters during my runs. One pair of shoes in particular I wore during two half marathons. You're only supposed to wear a pair of running shoes for one half marathon, but I loved this pair so much that I wore them for two. Since then I had to let my favorite pair of shoes go. I have a hot pink pair left and a basic pair of Asics and they both are great.
So know that you know the history of my athletic shoes...what shoes do I want in the future? Well, you already know that I have a pair of Nike shoes coming in the mail. I got them on sale from Bloomies. The second pair I want is the pair that you see above: Asics GEL-Finite Black/Hot Pink. I LOVE the hot pink on them!! For one last pair that I want...
A pair of Nike Free shoes! My brother has a pair of Nike Free shoes and they are so lightweight! I'd love to purchase a pair of these in the near future. Even though I don't run as much as I used to, I still like to wear comfy running shoes to the airport and of course to work out. They're even great to run errands in!

Shoes to step back onto the dating scene
My BFF (Best Friend Forever) has been single for about 10 years already. She is very picky when it comes to men, clothes and shoes, of course. Those of us who have been out of the game know that while we are single we tend to let go of ourselves, or at least take it a bit easier. We stop doing our nails as often, worry less about the roots showing in our hair, and go easier on the lipstick. Being a mommy and working from home makes this even easier.
However, Cupid squeezed her butt recently and she met a gorgeous guy. He is the stud in the most studly way possible.
But in order to make the best impact when she makes her feelings known, she wants to do a bit of an image make-over.
She has started a weight-loss program and has taken care of the smaller things, like the nail and the hair. The next step (so to speak) is to add some heels to her wardrobe. We need to help her find the perfect, comfortable heels to wear while she's transforming from work from home mommy to stud-magnet.
So let's find some great heels that will be comfortable while she is losing weight. I was thinking a thicker heel will be easier to start on - at least, I prefer those for myself at the moment. What do you think of these?
These flirty heels are sexy in an understated way, while the ankle strap helps cankles.

Naughts & Crosses: Check out these great plaid shoes
Call me strange, but I like plaid. I also like floral print. In rare instances, the two can be combined to look really amazing.
When I was younger, my mom was a bit of a plaid-nut. I must admit that plaid was pretty popular at the time. She made me one of those 80s fold-over plaid skirts that we wore those days. It had a black background with narrow red, yellow and blue lines. I wore with black stockings black shoes and a black top. Very stylish!
Lately, I have seen some of the younger celebs wearing plaid shoes and thought I'd go check out some of the cool styles.

They say boys will be boys
Speaker in heels wrote a post last week about Back to School which reminded me of shoe shopping with my boy and I thought I'd tell you more about him.
He is nine years old with the body of a 6-year-old and the feet of a baby giant. He looks a bit like Mickey Mouse. Some people say that he will start growing faster when he gets to high school. I hope his feet will then be more in proportion to his skinny little legs!
Shoe shopping with him is a nightmare. He simply cannot make up his mind as to what shoes to get and maternal suggestions are brushed off with an impatient "Oh mom, you just don't understand us men." Right, of course I wouldn't - men are so complicated. *Eyes rolling*.
But besides me not understanding men, my little man is so very set in his nine year old ways. He's about as flexible as a toothpick, with aspirations of becoming a lawyer, there's simply no way I can win an argument against him and I have to make him feel that it was his decision. I simply can't say no to this little guy as he is probably the easiest child on earth (in every area other than shoe shopping!).
When he enters the shop, he runs for the sneakers. I have to gently coax him towards the sandal lane using a technique my husband refers to as corrective nudging. It's the same as when he refuses to swim with his sister and I then ask him to please watch her from the balcony to make sure she's okay, knowing full well that she won't be in the pool before he grabs his towel and joins her outside. It works like a charm for everything, except for shoe shopping. See, JR has a very peculiar sense of style.
Reaching the sandals, he can barely look at it. "If I HAVE to have sandals, I want ones like Dads." (and Dad is even MORE difficult to shop for!) Did I mention that he's a little Daddy-clone? He copies all his dad's worst habits.
He insists on the same sneakers he had before, but of course they will never have it in his size. I then have to explain to him why we do not wear shoes that are too small. Thankfully they don't have it in a bigger size either, as I can just see how he will want to buy a pair of shoes 5 sizes to big. Just as he put his shoes back on (he will not walk barefoot in public), that little freckly face will light up at the sight of a pair of Ben10 shoes! But sadly, they are 3 sizes too small.
Finally we'll settle on something that fits and is semi-cool and my Mommy heart is broken for my little boy who loves little boy clothes, while his feet are racing into big boy shoes.
Next time I'll put him in front of the If The Shoe Doesn't Fit site, give him a shoe size and tell him to only buy in that size.

What does a beach bum wear to a business meeting?
As you all know by now, I am a certified beach bum who lives in flip flops.
My lifestyle doesn't really require fancy clothes or shoes, except when we go out to dinner. Our clients are mostly from abroad or from inland South Africa, so they don't see us (thank goodness, else I'd be completely broke!). However, it can't be all that bad...
Over the two years that we've lived here, we became friendly with people who have a little printing shop nearby. So it happened this morning that the lady who owns the shop invited us to take over her slot at a Better Business Bureau meeting next week in order to present our services to the members.
While that is VERY exciting - I have no idea what to wear!
It is currently winter here and while we have a mostly mild climate, it is rather cool that early in the morning. That means that something long would be appropriate. I think I'll go black, as it is versatile and can be worn with whatever top does not make me feel fat on the day.
I don't know what it is with all the peep toes hunting me down lately. Maybe it is a sign.

This is ADORABLE! |
From what I understand, the meeting is relatively low-key and I could probably get away with it. If I take the last one with the bow, I could always keep it, even just to look at. Or I could sell it on IfTheShoeDoesntFit, even though I would make me cry.
What suggestions do you have for me? What is your favorite business outfit?

Floral Shoes Bring Out the Happiness in You
You know how florals have been in style lately? Well did you also know that they can be seen everywhere on shoes as well? I happen to love florals because of their delicious patterns of pink, yellow, purple, and many other colors. They are so bright, colorful, and fun. Now that florals are absolutely everywhere, why don't we embrace them on shoes too? I love how they have taken over many styles of shoes, including pumps and flats.
Shoes are already like dessert, so adding additional colors and floral elements is just like frosting on a cake. In addition to florals, you will also find gems, sparkles, darling straps, and other elements that manage to look delicious on shoes. Speaking of edible dessert, let's take a look at the many styles of floral shoes that I will never grow tired of. In fact - they are so sweet looking that I wish I could eat them!
Betsey Johnson does not disappoint with her creative shoes. I love how there are splashes of green, pink, white, and black! Also, if you look closely there are two different floral patterns. Now that is what I call inventive.
These sweet pumps are super adorable and stylish with their edible florals and beige pumps. Can I please buy them right now?!
These pumps have to at least be four inches tall and I love the shade of blue and the criss cross strap elements.
More blue! The stylish bow and the way the florals blend in with this navy blue color is perfect.
Jewels and florals?! I would buy these flats in a heartbeat.
Floral shoes are a great asset to a simple outfit because you have the opportunity to make your floral shoes the focal point. With a lot going on, on your feet, you can wear a simple tee shirt and a pair of jeans. Or if you are feeling brave, go ahead and wear a short skirt or dress with your four inch floral heels or wedge sandals!
So what do you think of floral shoes? Is there too much going on for you or do you think they are lovely like I do? Whatever your preference is, I still love florals and that is not going to change. ;) When the summer is long gone and you miss those hot days, you can pull out your floral shoes and dream of your happy adventures to come in the months ahead.

Shoe Predicament - What Shoes to Wear in Las Vegas
Please help me shoe lovers, I have a bit of a predicament. I have the hardest time figuring out just the right pair of shoes to wear in Las Vegas. In about a week I am headed to Las Vegas with my boyfriend and I purchased a pair of flats that I like, but the problem is I never know if they are going to cause blisters or not because I never walk in them for the same long length of time that I walk while in Las Vegas, which is at least a few hours or more! When I'm in Las Vegas we walk a lot because it is the most practical way to get around the strip while gazing at the hotels and catching a few shows!
So I need your advice. What kind of shoes do you like to wear when you know you will be walking for a long distance but you want to remain fashionable at the same time? Do you wear flip flops, lace up shoes, heels, or flats? Right now I'm going to give my flats a shot but I'm also just considering my flip flops as well. Heels would be amazing but if I'm being honest there is no way I could get away with wearing heels when I'm walking on the strip. My feet would hurt way too much! I give the girls that can pull heels off on the strip major points because after a while I would either cry or walk bare foot, ha ha, which would be just gross.
Last year I wore a pair of Coach lace up shoes that were very comfortable, but my feet got hot and I actually got a few blisters too! For some reason my feet are very sensitive and I get blisters easily, which is why I am very particular in regards to what shoes I end up wearing when I know I will be walking for long lengths of time.
The pair of flats that I purchased are similar to the Vince Camuto flats you see below, with a jewel that embellishes the toe of the shoe. I'm thinking of wearing these flats because they will go with a lot of my outfits and still look cute with a dress. That's another consideration - most of my outfits are casual dresses, so a pair of lace up shoes don't go with my dresses. If I go with flats or flip flops they would go with my skirts and dresses, which makes sense for me fashion speaking.

However, when does comfort and foot care out rule fashion? If I really wanted to have comfortable and supportive shoes I would wear my Asics, but Asics don't go with my dresses now do they?! So this is my constant source of frustration. I want to wear something cute, comfortable, and something that will go with all of my outfits so that I don't have to bring multiple shoes. Just having one or two pairs to switch up would be perfect.
So I can't wait to hear about what you wear while traveling if you like to wear dresses like me. I just bought a pair of shorts (it was a stretch for me) because I needed to broaden my horizons this summer. The good news is that my legs will be cooler; the bad news is that I'm not so much a fan of shorts. But with my new flowy LOVE top I hopefully can pull it off. ;)
Keep in mind that Las Vegas is extremely hot this season (well usually every season for that matter,) so that is another reason to go with open toed shoes and my new jeweled flats are not open toed. Flip flops are. But - flip flops are not as supportive on your feet. I usually wear my flip flops with an outfit like you see above. See what I mean?! I have a predicament! Please give me the best shoe advice because I certainly need it! Thanks in advance.

Distinction between thongs and flip flops
We have been talking quite a lot about flip flops and thong sandals here on If The Shoe Doesn't Fit and I thought I'd just share some interesting info regarding one of our favorite styles and how it can be worn. See, I wear mine shopping, to the beach, to restaurants and other similar places. However, they say there is a time and a place for everything.
Firstly though, we should consider the distinction between flip flops an thongs as the two terms are often use interchangeably. Both types have Y-shaped straps and both make a flip-flop sound when you walk. However, I feel that thongs are more dressy than flip-flops.
Flip-flops are usually made of a vinyl, foam or rubber material and are usually flat. Thong sandals are dressier, come in a range of different styles and are from a little to a lot more expensive.
Some people will say that flip flops are inappropriate, but we tend to differ. After all, they are perfect for the beach. In fact, they are ideal for any casual activity such as shopping, hanging out at home, or for running errands.
You can wear them with anything from casual shorts to jeans.
Flat thongs can be worn with denim skirts, capris, jeans, casual dresses and shorts.
Dressier thongs work well with casual skirts, jeans and dresses.
However it is not suitable to wear to work or black tie functions, business meetings, church, red carpet events or funerals.
Then there are the dressy thong sandals for evening wear, to be worn with dressy evening suits or gowns.
What is your favorite flip flop or thong style?

Lady Gaga's shoes - hot or not?
Lady Gaga is known for her weird and wacky fashion sense about as well as she is for her vocal talents. She uses the two in conjunction to propel her popularity to heights most of us can only dream of. Love her or hate her - she is successful and it is in hugely attributed to her talent for creating controversy, her singing and her interesting shoes.
The Lady is also a bit of an enigma as few people are brave enough to follow in her - weird - footsteps.
We all had Rachel do's in the 90s and in 2011 we all want Kate shoes following the Royal Wedding, but despite Lady Gaga's new shoe line hitting the catwalks, few are brave enough to walk in her (really high, mostly heel-less) shoes.
For the purposes of this post I will try stick to the prettier of styles and those are the least gravity defying.
