New Silver Sparkly TOMS Shoes - What Do You Think?

Lately I've taken quite a liking to Instagram, an application on your smart phone where you can take pictures and post them. Then you can interact with others! It's so much fun - it's like Twitter and Facebook combined. If you're not on Instagram you should definitely join and if you do come and find me, I'm oceandreams4u. I've been having fun posting pics of my latest fashion finds, which of course includes shoes. ;)

So a few days ago I got my first pair of TOMS. I really like them, they're really sparkly and stylish. Plus, as you know, I love that TOMS will match my shoe purchase for a pair of shoes that will be given to a child in need.

I showed my new TOMS to my family and they think they are hideous looking. They love the idea behind TOMS, but they don't like the sparkles on the shoes. So now I'm coming to you asking you what you think. Are the sparkles too much? Should I have gotten a more basis pair?

I thought it would be fun having a sparkly pair of TOMS and a girl can never go wrong with sparkles, or so I thought. Then I showed it to my mom and she didn't like them. My brother and my dad had an even stronger reaction. Oops, that's not good.

I'm considering taking them back and getting a different pair, but I think I'll wear my pair of silver sparkly shoes proudly. After all, I'm a glam girl and I like my glam shoes. ;)

What do you think of my silver sparkly TOMS?

House Party Shoes!

So I'm having a huge house party this Saturday night... I do this twice a year, it's my chance to catch up with family and friends and see everyone. OK, and let's be honest it's also my chance to let loose and overindulge a bit! And by a bit - I mean to excess... but enough said about that...

Every time I have one of these parties, I start the night off in a pair of amazing shoes that I love - usually my newest acquisition like these which I adore -

Luichiny Kir Sten (Women's) - Multi Rock Glitter

But after about three or four Milky Way Martinis and a couple of hours of visiting, I can't walk in them, let alone stand in them - so I don't look so sophisticated any more.  Instead I end up barefoot or in my fuzzy slippers!

This party I'm thinking of trying to wear some cool shoes with lower heels: comments and input appreciated!

I could try these Chinese Laundry flats:

Chinese Laundry Addie

Or these from Chinese Laundry:
Chinese Laundry Glamor

But I'm not sure either feel dressy enough for me.

These are cute - but I'm not sold on the color:

Erna - Bronze Mauve Glitter

I like these J. Renee - cuz they still have a heel...
J. Renee Rosina (Women's) - Gold Glitter Fabric

This pair of J. Renee looks kinda vintage to me... so maybe I could build an outfit around them...

J. Renee Affair (Women's) - Gold Dance Glitter Fabric

Bottom line - I dunno what I'll be wearing on Saturday - for shoes or an outfit - but I'll definitely be having fun. Any suggestions or ideas appreciated!

What Not To Wear

We all love to showcase our fashion triumphs but today I’m going to share with you the biggest fashion mistake I’ve ever made.

Let me set the scene for you with a little picturesque description: I was a 17 year old High Student that was late for her morning job (yes! you read right a morning job that started at 5:30am.) More importantly it was a cold Manitoba winter morning. This meant that is was -40 without wind shield and in the -50 with it. While the bears, foxes, deer and other generic prarie wild animals had run for cover in the warmth of their dens, holes in the ground, gaves or where ever I was made to wake up at 5:05 and trudge to a neighbours house where I did morning proctoring. Loved the job. Hated the chilly mornings.

I had been dreaming well past 5:20am which is the time I usually left for work. And so I rushed out of bed, tripped over some random clothing on the floor and grabbed whatever was closest to me. This happened to be a t-shirt, a pair of 80's sweat pants, my uggs and a very puffy winter jacket.

The majority of the day is a blurr now but I can remember being pretty self concious even though I lived in a small town of maybe 2.700 people at the time. I remember thinking "What if people see me?" I'm kind of wondering who, I thought these "people" were but at the time I was really upset that I wasn't making a fashionable impression.I really wish I could relive that moment. Thinking about it now I’m still embarrassed but we live and we learn and hopefully we throw out the sweat pants that make us look like we just crawled out of the 80’s.

The wonderful hat that completed my fashion tragedy was borrowed from a school chum.

I used it to openly flaunt my shame and highlight my wonderful messy hair.

Do you have a fashion disaster moment you wish to relive? How would you change it?
