Why Personal Hygiene is Pivotal for a Successful Fashion Career

via Motherhood Career Fashion

While it might be stating the obvious, maintaining oral hygiene is important for any career, especially if it is in the fashion industry. Not only does it make you look your best, it is vital for optimal attractiveness and excellent health. What is classified as hygiene? Well, it includes hair and face washing, wearing deodorant, taking care of your teeth, and washing your body daily with soap. Even though these forms of hygiene are apparent, many people still need help forming an everyday habit of taking care of their bodies. Just like anything else in life, practice makes perfect and in order to create a habit and maintain excellent hygiene, one must learn what is entailed in personal hygiene. Having the best hygiene possible will help you succeed in any career, especially fashion.

Wash Daily and Find Products that Work Well for Your Skin Type

No one likes to head to a meeting and smell a person next to them that hasn’t showered lately. More than just the effect of stinking from not showering, not cleaning your body regularly can lead to infections. Be the fashionista that you are and find a bar soap or shower gel that will keep your skin and body fresh and clean. But – don’t briefly wash your skin and think that you are done! Instead, take the time that’s needed to truly exfoliate and clean your skin with a wash cloth or sponge. Also, be sure to wash all crevices that you might not think of washing.

Go to the Dentist Regularly and Brush Your Teeth

via Etsy

Don’t allow plaque and other bacteria to build up on your teeth. Instead, be sure to brush your teeth morning and night and don’t forget to floss too. Some people will even brush their teeth three or more times a day, depending on how clean they like their teeth to be. Plus, if you have braces brushing your teeth is even more important so that you don’t get food built up which could potentially cause a cavity. A part of keeping your teach clean is going to a reliable dentist, such as a Dallas dentist who will offer a deep cleaning on your teeth and will also check and make sure that everything else looks great in your mouth too. Having shiny and beautiful teeth is certainly appealing in the fashion industry and besides, you want to look your best and have white and healthy teeth that are nice to show off too, don’t you?

Wash Your Hands Regularly

Throughout the day it is important to wash your hands. It is especially important to wash your hands if you are working in an office or are working with customers. It is recommended that you wash your hands before and after you eat, after using the restroom, after putting out the garbage and especially after treating a wound. Since being in the fashion industry will most likely require a lot of socializing, if you are out in public it’s important to keep your health in mind without letting it rule your life. There is a way to create a balanced life full of a fashionable career and healthy hygiene that will help you succeed in your day to day living.

Paige One loves fashion so the writers focus on maintaining excellent hygiene and recommends going to a dentist, such as WDentalDallas.com that will help your teeth stay in excellent condition.

Ridiculously Beautiful Runway Fashion

I've never been one to be into high end fashion simply because it's so expensive, but after seeing all of the amazing dresses on Pinterest this evening I just had to share! Runway fashion will certainly take your breath away, that's for sure! From plenty of ruffles and lace, to beautiful neutral and bright colors, these gowns are beyond exquisite. I can only imagine how it would feel to walk down the runway in a dress like this - except, I would be afraid to trip and fall {maybe on my face like Carrie Bradshaw!!} That's why there are gorgeous models like below to show off these beautiful gowns for us, don't you think? ;)

In my opinion I saved the best dress for last, but I am dying to know who the designer is! So if you know please let me know, okay? Thanks. ;) As you can see there's plenty of couture elegance, lace, ruffles, and beautiful colors that I am in love with. Many of these gowns showcase fall fashion that's to come and if the knock offs in the stores are any indication that fall time fashion is going to look like this, then I'm definitely all in. ;)

Already I'm seeing these colors and hints of elegance in the stores. I've been shopping the last few days and scouting the fall time fashion is fun and then comparing what I've seen to dresses like this is even more entertaining! Obviously I would never need to wear a dress like you see above (no where to wear it too and way too fancy!), but seeing parts of the style or just the ruffles and lace show up in some fall time silhouettes is beyond amazing.

Are you obsessed with runway fashion? I used to never like it because it just didn't appeal to me. However, now the deeper I get into fashion - I more I like looking at the high end fashion dresses and walkway gowns. They're exquisite, that's for sure!

Are there any brand names on the runway that I should keep my eyes open for?

I can't wait to see more of the fall time fashion that develops {thanks to fabulous runway fashion like this!}

Mix Practical And Alternative!

  Kat's back and she's talking
about some ways to have fun with fashion!
As a lover of alternative fashion I always look forward to the time of year when skulls, studs and all things gothic make a comeback in the mainstream fashion stores, and I’m not talking about Halloween! This summer the British high street is awash with alternative fashion trends with many taking inspiration from the current festival season to create a range of clothing fit for any wannabe rock star. As a self-confessed lover of impractical footwear I am in my element as stores battle to add the biggest spikes and the most studs to their skyscraper platform heels.
For those with a more sensible head on their shoulders, squeezing feet into shoes which would not look out of place in a KISS tribute band may not seem like the ideal way to try out this current trend. If you do want to unleash your inner rock star without having to stand in the corner in fear of falling over, here are my top tips for practical alternative fashion.

You don’t have to go overboard.
Simply adding a skull scarf to an outfit can take your overall look from preppy to rock chick. There are some fantastic accessories out there at the moment that look great when layered together to create a festival, rock chick lock.

Get Clashing
Combine floral prints with leather jackets and studded shoes to create a contrasting look that will not look out of place in the muddy fields of Glastonbury or the celeb filled tents of Coachella. Experiment with textures as well as prints to create a laid back festival look.

Style and Comfort
Why suffer for fashion purposes when you can find comfortable shoes that are also very much on trend. I love combining a pair of comfy Naturalizer shoes with a skull print dress and leather jacket to create a look that not only looks good, but will allow me to dance all night to my favorite band without worrying about sore feet in the morning!

Kat is a full time writer, blogger who loves nothing more than being asked to write about her second passion in life, fashion (her first being shopping!). She is known for her love of Vivienne Westwood  and Lotus Shoes

Planning a 4th of July Picnic & the Perfect Outfit

Since the 4th of July is on its way why not plan ahead and have a picnic on that day? After all, the 4th of July is a great day to spend with friends and family members and not to mention pick out a fabulous outfit for the occasion. Many people have picnics on the beach, picnics at a park, or a barbecue at their home. Their are a lot of fun ideas that you can make for the 4th of July, so the important part is to plan ahead and come up with an activity and outfit that will work out perfectly for the holiday. Here are some ways to incorporate a picnic and what to wear on the fourth of July.

Set Up a Picnic in Your Backyard

Don't have a beach or time to go to a picnic spot? Set up a picnic in your own backyard. If your yard is spacious enough and you are having guests over, set up individual tables with picnics baskets, inviting guests to grab whatever food they want to eat from within the basket. The food could include pre-made sandwiches, small chocolate desserts, to side dishes in nice looking tupperware. Use your imagination and made your 4th of July backyard picnic one to remember!

Pack a Picnic and Watch the Fireworks

Don't have time to plan a backyard picnic because you want to catch the fireworks? Pack along a picnic basket dinner and bring it with you. It will be a great to hold all of your food items in the basket while you're hurrying along to get a great spot to watch the fireworks. Save yourself from trying to juggle multiple accessories and items (such as a blanket, purse, and frisbee), and carry all of your food items (be careful with perishable items), in stylish Picnic Baskets.

4th of July Outfit

If you're all set and ready to enjoy the 4th of July with a fun picnic too, there's just one thing you're missing: an outfit! Depending on if you'd like to be patriotic and go with a red, white, and blue theme or just wear whatever you'd, like, find a comfy outfit that will be okay to wear throughout the long evening ahead. If you're going out to watch the fireworks you'll need to be in a breathable outfit that allows you to move around and sit on a blanket for a long period. This also includes your shoes, which should also be comfortable. Plan accordingly and bring along a sweater for when the evenings get cold and you'll be all set to enjoy the holiday.

What Whimsical Outfit Will You Wear During a Garden Party?

It's fun to plan events during the summer, but what's even more fun is planning the outfit that you're going to wear to the summer party! If you'd like to have a garden party for your birthday or you'd simply like to have a party during the summer time that will be a great way to get friends together, why not start planning now?

With a garden party everything will look magical. From a whimsical garden with gorgeous flowers to magnificent garden fountains, there are many beautiful elements that will make a garden party come alive with style and ambiance. Once you've planned a garden party, what would you like to wear? Here are some lovely ideas (and of course shoes are included!) that will get you in the right outfit planning mode for your outdoor summer party.

A Floral Dress or a Sparkly Frock

Since a garden party will no doubt be magical and most likely warm if it is hosted during the summer time, find a dress that's not too heavy. As well as being a light weight frock that's make out of cotton or another light weight fabric, find a dress that will fit in with the garden theme. Think of florals, beautiful pastels, lots of color, or a dress with sparkles. All of these elements will aid you in finding a dress that will look lovely. When it's time to arrive to the party, you will fit right in and have a great time during the garden party.

Whimsical Wedges or Comfy Chic Flats

Obviously if your dress is already floral you'll want to go with something a bit more basic in regards to shoes. However, if you end up finding the perfect dress in a neutral shade like beige, it will be nice to add to the outfit with floral wedges. Floral wedges will be suiting for a garden event and they will also look very lovely surrounded by all of the flowers in the garden! Remember, comfort is important so even if you find a perfect pair of wedges, make sure they are comfortable as well because you will be socializing and probably walking around a lot during an event like this.

Let's Talk Makeup - Bright and Bold

Make a statement with your makeup. Bright lipstick (think Lime Crime lipstick!) will be a lot of fun to wear on your lips during a whimsical garden event. Plus, if you have pops of color in your dress or shoes, a bright shade of lipstick will certainly pull the entire look together. Don't forget about blush and foundation of course and you should also consider wearing blue eyeliner. Colorful eyeliner hat's just as bold as your lipstick will create a bold and fun garden party statement. All together your outfit, shoes, and makeup will look electric.

Once you have an amazing outfit picked out, have fun accessorizing by adding a simple necklace or a fun cocktail ring. Remember to keep it simple by incorporating pops of color - it will blend in well with the garden ambiance and will also make for great pictures with friends. Have fun at the garden party in your fashionable outfit and everyone will love seeing your gorgeous silhouette!

What Does Your Hairstyle Say About Your Taste in Shoes?

What does your hair have to do with your shoe selection? Well, a lot actually. Depending on your hairstyle the shoes that you wear says a lot about your hair preference, and vice versa. In addition, depending on your hairstyle, this will reflect your fashion preference in turn what your favorite type of shoes are. Here is an assessment of what kind of shoes you might like depending on your hairstyle.

If you have a pixie cut there's no doubt that you aren't afraid to be who you really are, because you are okay with cutting almost all of your hair off! This means that you most definitely will be seen in a sassy pair of cowgirl boots or black shoes with some sparkle. On casual days we might even see you wearing an edgy pair of Ed Hardy high heels because these types of pumps definitely scream a bold personality and originality.

Are your locks long and lovely? Then there's no doubt that you are very relaxed with yourself and your style is laid back and casual. Most of the time you might be seen wearing a dress that's cute yet comfy and you also love wearing flip flops, which goes with your elegant locks.

Taking care of longer locks takes time and patience, but they definitely are worth it. You also can get hair extensions if you want to skip the growing out stage. Once you have your desired longer locks, they will look great with a pair of elegant pumps or fancy decorated wedges, that will show off your romantic side. Wear flip flops when you're enjoying the summer time, but switch over to romantic pumps when it's time to enjoy a seaside escape or you're grabbing a nice bite to eat at your favorite restaurant.

If you have super straight hair and you like to keep it that way, you might be high maintenance. Even if you aren't high maintenance you probably just set in your ways, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. You crave style and originality, which is why you're seen in tall stilettos that offer plenty of height and add the perfect amount of fashion to your style.

Straightening your long hair takes time, so there's no doubt that you love shoes that show off your composed personality that craves structure. But - you still like to have some fun. Finding tall heels or craving designer shoes for that matter is important, which is why your favorite pair of pumps might be by Christian Louboutin or another well known designer.

As you can see your hairstyle says a lot about what kind of shoes you crave and wear. Obviously everyone is not alike and shoe preferences change depending on different personality types, but isn't it fun assuming which shoes go with which hairstyles? If you have a certain hairstyle and you'd like to add your take on which shoes go with your style - feel free to share in the comments below!

A Morbid Question?

I'm a little hesitant to write this post cuz I think it might come across as a bit morbid, but it is on my mind and I think / hope I can do it with respect.

The famous fashion and hair styling icon Vidal Sassoon passed away yesterday at age 84.  He was incredibly influential and known for changing the way hair was cut and styled from hairspray laden beehives to his ideal of touchable hair that was shaped into wash-and-go wedges, short bobs, sleek styles or Mia farrow's pixie cut.
Vidal Sassoon

We've seen whenever music icons pass away (for example Whitney Houston or Michael Jackson) that their music takes on a sudden immediate popularity.  My question is this: do you think that this will happen in the fashion and hair styling world as well?  Will we see a sudden resurgence in pixie cuts or bobs?  Will the Sleek Sassoon hair become fashionable again? What do you think?
